My 2007 Honda CR-V's TPMS light was on, so I called the store where I bought my tires and asked how much to replace a sensor. They said it's about $86 per sensor, so I asked how much to install a sensor if I bring my own. They said it's $15 plus tax and a small shop supply fee. They said they can program Autel sensors, but they're not sure about other brands. So I ordered 4 of these Autels, and the shop's total charge to install and program them was $68.97. I asked for the old sensors. They're all labeled "315 MHZ", which is the standard frequency for all vehicles sold in the U.S., so I didn't need the optional 433 MHZ on these new Autels. 433 MHZ is for vehicles made for markets outside the U.S. At least 2 of the old sensors were installed by the tire store in previous years. They look generic, so it looks like tire stores are making a huge profit by charging high prices for their own low-priced replacement sensors. If I had paid the store for everything, the total would've been at least $344, plus tax and shop fees! The best way to deal with age- and high-mileage related TPMS battery problems is to buy four of your own sensors and have them all replaced the first time the TPMS LED stays on continuously or goes on and off erratically. Sometimes, the TPMS LED will come on but go out after a short drive, which means the TPMS is working okay. If the tire pressure is okay, a lighted TPMS LED might indicate that at least one sensor's battery is failing, and the other sensor batteries are likely to fail eventually, one-by-one, as well. Each sensor contains a non-replaceable battery, similar to a smartphone battery, which is estimated to last about five years, so TPMS problems will show up when a sensor battery is nearing the end of its life. Each TPMS sensor is mounted inside the tire rim, so, to replace a TPMS sensor, the tire has to be removed from the rim. As of August 21, 2024, all of these Autels are still working.

I had previously used Autel programmable TPSs for my set of snow tires and wheels, therefore I already had the Autel TS408 for reading and programming. They have been great in that application, so when our 2014 Prius V needed one of its sensors replaced, I used the same Autel TPSs and replaced all four. Luckily, I have a Snap-on ODB scanner that was able to tell my the dead TPSs ID and I was able to manually put it in the on the TS408.So far, none of the sensors that I have used has had any issue.
